January 6th was more than an attack on the Capitol it was an attack on democracy. The hate, violence, and division on display showed how deep the wounds are in our country. We can never forget, and we must stand against hate to heal and move forward. #StandAgainstHate

Every public action on Bluesky is available via a stream of events known as the firehose. By monitoring the firehose for repeated text, it is sometimes possible to quickly detect groups of spam accounts as they spawn.

Bluesky is proof that cryptocurrency isn't a core tenant of decentralization. The team demonstrated extreme levels of pragmatism by leveraging new and existing technologies to produce something people actually use.

A Flourishing Internet Depends on Competition Antitrust law has long recognized that monopolies stifle innovation and gouge consumers on price. When it comes to Big Tech, harm to innovationβ€”in the form of β€œkill zones,” where major corporations bu...

We must move beyond price as the major determinator of consumer harm. And once that’s done, it’s easier to see even greater benefits competition brings to the greater internet ecosystem.

I get why it's happening, but I wish the conversation about Hugo irregularities were not devolving into "this book I loved was denied a Hugo nomination!" That's not the point. What matters is that the award's integrity was compromised, whether or not you like the nominees that were struck off.

We Live in a Golden Age of Crybullyism Those in power, promoting austerity and war, no longer want us to fear them. They demand something much more sinister: that we feel sorry for them.

I like this term "crybully": A person or group (e.g., corp.) who "engages in abuse, intimidation, or foul play" but when they get pushback, "recoil into a feigned fetal position of a victim."

Seems like a variant of the term "victim-bully."

Think of your notes like a tweet. one main thought per note. I also like to write my notes as if I'm taking a note for somebody I love and want to succeed and I need to explain it to them. That way when future me reads it I don't have to translate anything.

I usually take my notes in a text app and then upload them to obsidian at the end of the day in a batch as part of my daily routine. That way I can let them cool a bit and have some distance from them. Then when I upload them I look for connections to other notesand where to place them, etc.

Also. Read "how to take smart notes" 10x better than just a note taking app. It teaches you how to set up an actionable note taking system.
