This is a really welcome step.
After years of cuts, investment in young people is starting to return.

The energy, people, ideas and leadership are already here - young people are showing us that every day.
Our job is to back them with the spaces, support and trust they deserve.
In our session with the Southwark Youth Parliament, the focus was clear: safety, youth poverty, mental health, access to opportunity. They werenβt just naming problems - they were offering ideas. Whatβs missing is the resource and trust to act on them.
05.08.2025 09:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We also visited St Giles Trust in Camberwell - a charity supporting young people affected by violence, poverty and county lines. Their peer-led model, and work with the VRU, shows whatβs possible when support is rooted in lived experience and real trust.
05.08.2025 09:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Through Elevated Minds, sixth-formers from St Thomas the Apostle College joined us in Parliament.
They spoke about the gap between how young people are perceived and how they actually live. About policing, identity, mental health and where they feel they belong.
At the Damilola Taylor Youth Centre, Janet Daby, Minister for Children and Families, saw the MyEnds programme in action: boxing, football, mentoring - all youth-led. The centre is trusted and full every week. But demand is outpacing capacity.
05.08.2025 09:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This summer Iβve been out across the community - at youth centres, in Parliament, and in roundtables - hearing directly from young people.
The Young Futures Summer Series is our way of listening, learning, and starting to build something better with them.
Some kids in Peckham are spending their summer climbing back over school fences β just to use a pitch. The only space left is the place they should be having a break from.
We need youth clubs that are open, local and funded.
My Young Futures campaign is about just that π§΅
That win showed the power of coming together - different backgrounds, one team, one goal.
Girls in Peckham saw people like them on that pitch. We need to make sure theyβve got the pitches, the kit, the coaching.
Talent is everywhere - and so should opportunity be.
Itβs hard to put into words what the spirit of Peckham feels like- but Russell Newellβs photos do just that.
Raw, tender, political.
The fabric of a community stitched through light, shadow, friendship and fight.

This summer, Holiday Hope is giving thousands across London the space to create, move, express themselves, and just be kids.

Promise made. Promise delivered β
16 and 17-year-olds will be able to vote in the next general election π
They work, pay tax, shoulder real responsibilityβnow they have power at the ballot box.
A long-overdue step to strengthen and modernise our democracy.

This is vulnerable, powerful and deeply human - how we talk about poverty shapes how we fight it.
16.07.2025 13:49 β π 23 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0Cold homes are political. Warm homes are a choice.
Labour is choosing to act - and weβre just getting started.
This is about fairness. No one should dread the cold nights drawing in or have to choose between heating and eating. Everyone deserves a warm, secure home they can afford to live in.
16.07.2025 09:05 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0In Maltby, Rotherham, families are already saving up to Β£400 a year after energy-efficiency upgrades. Itβs not just good policy- itβs life-changing. And this is just the beginning.

In Wakefield, 5,000+ households will get free home upgrades- from solar panels to insulation. Itβs part of a Β£70m programme led by the West Yorkshire Mayor and backed by the government. Thatβs Labour in power, delivering.

Tired of cold, draughty homes draining your hard-earned wages?
Labourβs Warm Homes Plan will upgrade millions of the homes that need it most- cutting bills and keeping families warm π§΅
The expansion of the Warm Home Discount will mean three million more families will receive support for their energy bills at a time that we know people desperately need it.
15.07.2025 14:47 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Under the Conservatives, the energy crisis pushed families to the brink.
So no, we wonβt take lectures from them now.
Tackling youth violence and creating opportunity must start with communities.
Brilliant to have Janet Daby in Peckham to see the award-winning #MyEnds programme- backed by the Mayorβs Violence Reduction Unit.
From sports to mentoring, it shows whatβs possible when we invest in our young people π₯
Weβre driving down bills, breathing life into our communities with cleaner air, and securing our energy for the long term- so people feel the change today and future generations can thrive.
Thatβs the country we are building.
Clinging to fossil fuels is like bailing water from a sinking ship.
Delay, denial or distraction from clean power is to fail our children.
Most Brits back it- because it cuts bills and puts Britain back on the world stage as climate leaders. Letβs get moving.

Clean power- built by working people, owned by us all.
Itβs that simple.
Notting Hill Carnival was born from Londonβs Black and Caribbean communities- resistance through music and joy.
Thanks to @london.gov.uk, it goes ahead: louder, safer, prouder.
When the usual suspects take aim, they always fail.
Carnival is going nowhere.

The Devolution Bill is on its way - giving communities the power to protect, shape, and transform the places they call home. Thatβs how we build a stronger, fairer country.
