"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

Boycott Campaign Targets Companies Tied to ICE Ahead of Black Friday The Not With My Dollars campaign takes aim at Amazon, Whole Foods, Dell, Microsoft, Home Depot, Spotify, and Target.

A Gen Z-led advocacy group announced a boycott campaign targeting major corporations “that enable, profit from, or directly collaborate with ICE.” Beyond the Ballot launched “Not With My Dollars: ICE Out of My Wallet” just days before Black Friday kicks off.

People are struggling. I want us to think about how we're going to help each other hang in there this winter. How are you going to support your friends, co-strugglers, and community as they push through this moment? How can you help people muddle through, materially and/or emotionally?

One of my favorite things is getting to tell friends who are new to NYC that the subway "stand clear of the closing doors please" voice is a trans woman named Bernie Wagenblast and she's amazing.

This is Alice’s friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice’s wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing. Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin. We need more stories about us and our culture. You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

So saddened by the news that we have lost Alice Wong. It was an honor to know her and learn from her. May the lessons she shared continue to guide us for years to come.

We really need to stop allowing the fascists to dictate how we talk. They've openly said that even criticizing them is criminal. Anyone who isn't them is a "criminal" in their eyes. They don't believe in due process.

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

Humans need other human beings to survive. I'm sorry that this makes some people lose their shit but it's one of the key truths of life.

It SHOULD be national news that trash is piling up everywhere and the morgue is full and strikers are being threatened by cops and our Dem mayor is at open war with the union leadership and thousands of essential workers are fighting this hard for a tiny raise! And yas wonder why Philly is so angry

Philly is in its first municipal strike in the social media age. Does that affect how events are unfolding? So far, the national press has largely ignored Philadelphia's first strike by city workers since 1986.

It’s honestly so disrespectful and irresponsible that the national media has mostly ignored the DC33 city worker strike in Philly so far. It’s a huge story with massive implications for the 6th biggest city in the country.
