This is why I kind of miss the Use Magic Device skill of older editions. Magic from a scroll shouldnt be outright locked behind specific spellcasting classes like it is now but it absolutely should have a skill check to use it to prevent abuse via feeding a thief rogue high level scrolls

If you can, pick up two hand crossbows if you’re using it because the shriek gives extra damage on every attack which works best if you’re makjng a lot of attacks. I used the sword basically all the way through to act 3 on my first playthrough as a drow rogue and I never felt lacking in damage

Like instead of negating resistance for a class feature that should be a part of the poisoner feat and then this class feature can be treating immunities like resistance

I wouldnt say thats a “glitch” as much as it is just a continued oversight by WOTC because they want to make poison work but wont actually do the thing they need to which is culling the amount of poison immunity in the game by downgrading it to resistance or giving some method to mitigate immunities

Yeah I tend to do this with characters in dnd because unlike a game like Pathfinder, it lacks variety in optimized builds and those builds tend to make game balance obsolete. In order to both have fun myself and prevent the game going off the rails I prefer to come up with interesting weaker builds

Its really bad pretty much every nexus entry for portraits is AI or uncredited art taken from somewhere. I downloaded one to literally find a portrait that is just ripped MTG card art of Jace lmfao

I mean its a little bit more fiddly than 5e 2014 but I think Pathfinder 1e and other 3rd edition adjacent systems will always take the cake for fiddliness. Its exceedingly hard to build a bad character in 24 despite all of the minor jank and it plays very similar to regular 5e

Even better the 300 scrolls of protection from good that I will definitely use when I am exclusively fighting hordes of demons

act 5 of WOTR on an Aeon/Devil run is truly justifying my heel turn
1) I had my rank stripped and got sent to the abyss on a suicide mission by the queen
2) I come back and Drezen has been sacked again and she’s gone
3) her god shows up to tell me to give up my powers and kill myself

Spiritual weapon is still a go to for me in bg3 just because it lets me juice my action economy. Sure it might not be as good as in dnd because people can actively get rid of it without casting dispel magic but it is still an extra attack every round

Like the actual breakdown of how it works is a little more complicated but at the end of the day they actually made dual wielding stronger with the masteries. You can make 4 attacks a turn once you get extra attack using your action and bonus action instead of three

I mean they changed it but its not that confusing once you break it down to this
Bonus action off hand attack is now an inherent property of light weapons but without the dual wielder feat or fighting style you dont add any modifiers
Nick mastery lets you make an additional offhand attack no BA

Gaming the action economy is an easy way to juice encounter difficulty at pretty much any level. At low levels the body count will make characters overwhelmed and at higher levels it gives you as the dm more leeway to do fun shit. More bodies = more turns to do Legendary actions and cause chaos

The thing about D&D is that unfortunately its place in the culture means that whenever there is any rule change, no matter how inane and a non-factor it is, will have grognards and outrage tourists who dont play crying. Same shit happened with the divorce of Ability score from ancestry with Tashas

A lot of people struggle with the Kingmaker kingdom rules so theres some pretty widely used homebrew stuff out there for it. Its worth checking out the Vance and Kerenshara homebrew for it on the paizo forums it covers a lot of the issues the base system has paizo.com/threads/rzs4...

I would say the game is absolutely playable without house ruling and that making a call on the fly is very different from going into the books, looking up the actual rule, and deciding to modify it to suit your needs, which is what I view house ruling as

I had this happen with Wyll on one of my playthroughs so he ended up ass naked in Avernus with Karlach before the epilogue

It really shined how pathetic it was for me on my last good durge playthrough because I knocked out all of the pillars in two turns with my open hand monk/fighter laezel and then proceeded to hold monster crit divine smite him down in like 3 turns with enchanter gale and my vengeance pally durge

I think Death Cleric might even get a corpse bomb ability

To be fair based on the preview they are changing them up quite a bit. Like drunken master seems completely reworked from 5e to work around using the alcohol from camp supplies

Sick and tired of getting nothing but cosmetic mods on console BG3. Where are literally all of my subclass mods for Cleric at? I dont care about Shadowheart getting a low poly middle part in her bangs I want to be able to hit two people with Toll of the Dead for no extra resources

Every time new 5e subclass mods drop on console i’m back, starting like 6 new playthrough’s thinking of different thematic multiclass dips for every single origin character. Desperately awaiting death cleric so I can do an evil shadowheart origin playthrough as necromancer/death cleric

Who needs to play an edgelord murderhobo that derails your campaign when you can play the shrewd-to-the-point-of-horrifying-cruelty military officer with so few scruples you would think you’re talking to a BBEG but he’s on your side

After playing like 80 hours of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous I’m still too much of a coward to knuckle up and learn pathfinder mechanics but I do really want to play an Illrigger in D&D so I can RP as a Hellknight like my boy Regill

Its definitely different but not in ways that will make DnD feel alien to you. Just take the time to learn the rules (even if its only the stuff on your own character sheet) and it will mostly come naturally. Most DMs are also a font of knowledge and will do whatever they can to help teach you

Best place to get into it is either through friends you know who play or finding out if any local game shops or public libraries run games you can join. I personally got into it through discord friends running oneshots but there are plenty of places you can find people to play with IRL
