I grew up in Terry Hut in the 60s. Maybe i missed it, but I'm surprised we didn't hear more about him in school.

The first two recorded “Spanish” flu victims buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, in September 1918, were also in the Navy. One, if not both, has been stationed at the Navy base north of Chicago. About 44% of all the burials at the cemetery in Oct-Nov were flu victims.

I first posted this nine years ago. Right now I wish things were a lot less tizzy.

They were spread out over a quarter mile or more path feeding and flitting on Late Boneset or Yellow Ironweed not clumped in a tree or two.

It's been a much better year than last year in our yard on the westside of Indy near 38th and I465. Also finding lots of swallowtail eggs and caterpillars on our Queen Anne's lace. Don't see the butterflies as much as we evidence that they've been here.

Two years ago I discovered that its founder and namesake, Cephas Fort, is my Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather on my mom's side. Prior to that I didn't even know there was a Fortville. So Mass Ave Curmudgeon, who grew up there, gave me a tour. I found his grave a little outside of town.

Stay alert! Almost hit a fawn just a few blocks southwest of the Courthouse in Bloomington.
