Maybe. I’m a bit north of Clermont inside Marion county.

The main places I ride are the B&O, Eagle Creek Park, Eagle Creek Trail, 56th & 71st connectors. I try to keep my car sitting in my driveway. πŸ™‚

... I also rode the new segment of the Eagle Creek Trail from I-465 / Crawfordsville Rd up to the park today and that is in really great shape with fence building underway there too. It will be great when the Eagle Creek Trail finally connects to the B&O next fall 🀞 (2/2)

(1/2) I definitely do not begrudge the workers keeping the trail closed off while work is underway. I also had to ride 21st and H.S. Rd detour on my ride to the fair. Not fun.

I rode the new B&O segment again today (Sunday) and I must say that they are doing a nice job with the fencing...

I can’t wait for the B&O trail’s official ribbon cutting on October 10. The only thing that saddens me is that IndyDPW will take over upkeep of the trail next year. Hendricks county puts a lot of effort into B&O upkeep and we’ve all seen what Marion Co does to maintain its trails.

A portion of my 20 mile cycle route to the Indiana State Fair yesterday afternoon. Except for the first mile or so (not shown) my plan was to ride the remaining distance on our trails. I didn’t count on getting turned back on the B&O Trail by the trail construction guys πŸ”΄ for 2mi detour #bike #Indy

Two good follow-ups to this story would be 1) what process was used to select these projects? 2) how did councilors share (or not share) these plans to their constituents?

I’m not aware of Maggie Lewis sharing any of her plans with my district. Her choice seems good but her process is very poor.

Of what news-worthy significance was your broadcast team twice mentioning that the bike was carrying a lot of items? A vulnerable roadway user was killed by a driver who criminally left the scene rather than render aid and you focus on the bike’s cargo?

Purdue student detained by ICE and taken to troubled Louisiana holding facility Yeonsoo Go, 20, was detained after her immigration hearing in Manhattan and taken away by ICE agents.

Go, a college student, has a dependent visa (her mother, an Episcopal minister, is here on a religious worker visa), which doesn't expire until Dec. But when she tried to renew it early, ICE nabbed her and sent her halfway across the US to a detention center.

ighteen months after Westfield Mayor Scott Willis introduced his intention to expand golf cart use on trails in Westfield, the Westfield City Council voted July 28 to approve his plan.

The city’s golf cart ordinance was first passed in 2018. The change means street-legal golf carts driven by licensed drivers can be driven on city-funded trails greater than 5 feet wide β€” excluding the Monon Trail, Asa Bales Trail, Natalie Wheeler Trail and in city-owned parks β€” at a speed not to exceed 15 mph. The ordinance expands use on the Midland Trace Trail from Grand Junction Plaza east to Gray Road. Golf carts will not be permitted on the Midland Trace Trail west of U.S. 31. Golf carts remain legal on surface streets where the speed limit is 25 mph or less.

City officials have spent the past year and a half researching the proposal, holding community meetings and visiting Peach Tree City, Ga., a golf cart community similar in size to Westfield.

Wow!

While Westfield is (for now) sparing the Monon Trail from their golf cart invasion, it will now allow residents to drive golf carts on other multi-use trails, including parts of the Midland Trace (which connects the Monon Trail to the Nickel Plate Trail in Noblesville). (1/2)

(3/3) A cyclist who lives near the trail carried over a tools to work on removing a large tree that had fallen yesterday across the trail. I happened upon him and stopped to help - we alternated turns sawing or lifting the trunk. He knew, as did I, that waiting for DPW to do their job was futile.

(2/3) The β€œBear” parking lot gates appeared functional today, for once. In theory, the gates improve parking lot safety and could collect much needed park revenue. In practice, the gates have been non-functional for all but 2 about weeks of 2025.

A strange spot for a pedestrian to be struck by a driver. I was biking on the 56th St trail and crossed High School Rd at ~2:20 PM. I didn’t see or hear anything up that way as I crossed. The majority of the drivers on that section of dead-end road are IMPD headed to the gun range.
