Why there's no quick fix in sight for the problem of dazzling headlights Road users say headlight glare is an issue - but experts warn a solution might not be straightforward.

We're made invisible.
πŸš• only looking for other πŸš— headlights.

I'm excluded from busy rural roads at night because of this.

Royal Mail staff tell BBC letters sit undelivered as firm prioritises parcels Staff and customers tell the BBC prioritising parcels can mean missed NHS appointments and late payment fines.

Feels like this is happening here in #Exeter. Letters only coming once a week & in great bundles.

Snowdrops lining Devon's hedgebanks today. Also alexanders, hogweed, campion, celendine & violet on the coast near lovely Bolberry Down.

Black box monitoring of driving. Five years after passing test minimum. Another five years after any speeding, phone use, collision, insurance claim etc etc. The rest of us have it in our cars and it's switched on for 12 weeks a year, at random intervals. That should sort it.

I had the little wave yesterday. She didn't even stop to apologise for nearly killing me. Be thankful this picture doesn't come with sound effects...

4/ Who is sharing a bigger vision? Who is explaining the real choices? This week alone a Reform Cllr tried to imply Β£ for SEND provision relief should be there for potholes!
Come on #Devon let's do better for #Exeter, for #climatechange for the overstretched #NHS & for our children's future.

3/ without modal shift Exeter is drowning in congestion & pollution. People are not able to switch to cycling while routes are incomplete, dangerous or shared with car/HGV traffic. Potholes abound from unnecessary car miles. Drivers complain about potholes & congestion but fight the solutions.

2/ Partly their energy is directed into keeping schemes that were delivered in last 5yrs, now under attack from drivers (who forced out the Exeter LTN & now feel empowered to fight everything). Partly their funds are squandered on car-centric designs, leaving dregs for #activetravel
but....

I feel despair & anger.
Yesterday I narrowly avoided a collision with a πŸš—driving in to me🚲on a roundabout. Only my shout & quick responses averted catastrophe.
BUT I'd written to the council 1yr ago & met a council engineer 10yr ago about this issue.
Why is DCC ignoring danger to people 🚲 πŸ§‘β€πŸ¦½πŸšΆ?

The rise of vice-signalling: how hatred poisoned politics Over the last 10 years, the terms of political debate have changed completely – and week by week they seem to get worse

This by @zoesqwilliams.bsky.social is really worth a read, in spite of the fact that it mentions me in passing. She's convinced me, anyway, that vice-signalling really is a thing - and a phenomenon/technique we need to take very seriously.

Being a nemesis of something toxic isn't quite the insult they hoped it would be!

Please give my petition a boost, if you think the premise is reasonable? I believe think-tank funding to sway media and policy needs to be debated and made transparent:

Next time someone asks you about energy and land use, maybe remind them that the ~35 million acres that currently grow corn for ethanol in the US could produce ~15 PWh per year of electricity from solar photovoltaics. That's ~3.5 times more than *total annual generation from all US power plants*.

Brexit is a category error. It can’t be defined, except as a symbol that refers to itself. β€˜Brexit means Brexit’ is literally the only definition that makes logical sense, but describes nothing at all. It can never be achieved.

We need licences for estates now. Any foul play -> loss of licence both for that land and that landowner. Β£800 fine is a joke.
