The only thing I miss about Twitter is that sometimes I'd go and have a look at what the barmpots were getting angry at today, just for a laugh.

Here’s the map for the swallow. Each dot represents a bird, and each line links the places where they were found.

If he lies in there then he's in trouble.
Might need a select committee or some other vehicle.
Well, it’s up Labour and their 400 MPs to make sure that this is fully exposed and the main talking point on every politics show. They should be asking questions in Parliament too. And I thought that this is the sort of thing that should be planted as a Q during PMQs too.

He's becoming the reason he left the BBC.
You must have listened to a different speech. Isn't she reversing every tax rise? Cutting other taxes for the wealthy and slashing the state to the bone?
So we increase wealth inequality still further and become a smaller, poorer, even more broken country than the last time they were in charge.
I'd be a lot happier if I was offered the choice between tax rises or a return to the customs union and the single market.

I know the problem - they were actually far too shit at government ever to fit the list in a tweet.
If you arrive at completion and the Notaire hasn't received the buyer's funds then the seller gets to keep the buyer's 10% deposit.
I'm sure there are many other technicalities but this very simple action/consequence system relies on the Notaire having all the power and appears to work well.
Although I'm not sure what the mechanism for the seller paying up is.
If things are not as promised during the sale, the Notaire has the right to impose fines e.g. if unwanted furniture or junk is left in the house on completion the seller can be made to pay compensation BEFORE they receive a cent.
The best things about the french system (imo)
One lawyer, the Notaire, represents all parties, buyer, seller and govt. so there is no problem with comms.
At the first stage, the compromis de vente, the buyer puts up a 10% deposit which is forfeit if he pulls out. Seller faces the same penalty.
This is essentially correct although if you find a house through an agent then the agents fees are also payable and they can often be up around 8-10% as well. Sometimes this will be payable by the seller, sometimes by the buyer. Not sure if this is just at the discretion of the buyer, agent or what?

Crucially, they became dependent on a media that never demanded to see their workings. Contrast that with the scrutiny Reeves receives.

In the last 45 years the Court has prevented just 13, thirteen, deportations of migrants from the UK.
This has nothing to do with migrants - it's your rights they're after.

Reminds me of that 'lovely' story of the boss who turns up for work one morning in a brand new Ferrari. An employee compliments him (of course it's a him) on his beautiful car and the boss says, "Well, if you work really, really hard all this year then next year I will be able to buy another one."

It alternately makes me laugh or cry to hear people talk about the damage done by social media to young people when old people spread so much bull on and do so much harm with facebook.
