Glad to be back in a small boat on some big water. Nine miles of solo rowing, with the cutest boat and the nicest people meeting me at Tongue Point.

It also seems like Russia would be guaranteed to lose Kaliningrad in a conflict with NATO. I’m sure no country wants that enclave of belligerents to remain on its borders.

To clarify, I like it when Ukraine turns Russian assets orange. I don’t like Russian assets in the US that turn themselves orange.

Anniversary and Birthday all in one great weekend. 27 and 54, respectively, so half of my life well spent, and 20 years with our wonderful son is icing on the cake!

I try not to be a greedy person, but I realize I’ll always want even more destruction of Russia’s economy and infrastructure and will never be satisfied until it’s all gone.

I’m guessing my boat is more fun than theirs. Felt good to get on some big water this morning!

U-paddle and pick spots are few and far between, but it sure is wonderful when you find one. Thimbleberries, native blackberries and salal all on the same bit of shoreline.

My wife took this photo of a distressed bald eagle we rescued from drowning in 2001. I wish it would seem a little less symbolic of our nation as the years go by.

Glad to finally get out outdoors again, doing something that helps me stop thinking about all the crap everybody can’t stop thinking about.

This isn’t a day of tranquility, but the hundreds of thousands who will be out in the streets protesting today do so in order to help put our nation back on the path to peace and justice.

Canyoneering only a few hundred feet from a much loved trail, we were treated to pristine stretches of water etched basalt with no signs of human visitation. Alas, this was in 2016, and the following year, human stupidity visited the whole area via a forest fire sparked by fireworks.

It doesn’t have a hot tub or tinted windows, but I’m sure this Japanese Communist Party bus throws a rollicking good time. Great way to paint the town red!

Broken leg reminiscing;
Dropped Harvey Golden and Zephyr off for their first overnight voyage.

There’s never a good time to break a leg, and while I didn’t pick wisely, it could always have been worse. Instead of getting to share new photos of beautiful places, I’ll be doing some reminiscing.

It was glorious seeing some of Southern Washington’s really big trees in their full-upright position. Some were less upright and some were downright horizontal, but all impressive and beautiful to see.
