No, it's not something they'd interfere in. And my neighbors are nice. I think they're just not paying attention. Or maybe they even consider it charity. Or maybe they want to keep the service engaged to fix up their yard in the spring. Idk.

I actually think what's said in private is very different from what he & others say publicly.

And I think western world successes & prosperity over the last century have primed many folks to assume things will always work out somehow, painlessly & seamlessly. But I think we're in for big trouble.

The key to this is enormous self-interest & huge resultant bias.

Unbiased (or even just "less biased" experts) are extremely worried, for very good reasons.

Plus, it's madness to listen to tech bros for any predictions outside their tech specialties. They're arrogantly clueless & broadly ignorant.

Imo, it will lead to instability & chaos, rather than a system which self-corrects. Situations will be very different in different places, but not particularly good.

And we have to add climate change to this. Plus, AI needs electricity in enormous amounts, like we need air to breathe: #1 priority.

My neighbor's "lawn service" has spent the last hour (so far) mowing & blowing dirt.

Their yard basically died & disappeared.

But their service dutifully generates enough air pollution to choke a small town, every week.

I wonder if they'll mow snow.

As some approaches, I'm quick to turn the air conditioning on.

But I won't turn my heater on until it gets really really cold.

Astounded that we humans are still around. I wonder how much time we have left.
