I spoke to the President earlier. We had a productive conversation and I explained to him that his staff doesn’t have their facts straight about Minnesota. My thoughts in the Wall Street Journal:

And yet this will consume time, energy, money and attention for months to come.

His passion is well directed. Truth matters. Trusted media matters.

ABC, NBC, CBS, and cable news are no longer reliable sources of information.

Rather than acting as checks on the political machine, they have become gears and levers of the machine.

Same! While it’s not quite large enough to bake larger items, I can easily do fish, chicken, roasted veggies, focaccia, biscuits, smaller cakes, and a dozen of my regular double chocolate banana chocolate chip muffins (a favourite with my crew). So much easier!

Over here it was chicken stew that can be heated over our wood stove, and focaccia baked in the air fryer oven. Uses far less power, and I use it rather than the conventional oven whenever possible all year. Great in summer especially (although the heat of summer is a distant memory atm). Haha

The parking lot of a wooded trail is covered in shiny ice as the sun slowly starts to set, casting a pale yellow glow over the ice and softly illuminating the surrounding trees.

Unplugged for a bit and hit the trail ahead of tonight’s expected snowstorm.

Helpful info for those in areas of deep freeze.

A couple of winters ago, my neighbours had massive damage in their home after pipes burst. It was linked to an outdoor faucet that wasn't drained or turned off from inside.

I genuinely can't imagine advice less useful than to hector people for saying "fascism" when the activities of the state — using secret police to enact terror, weaponizing the tools of the state to deter opposition, taking over mouthpieces of the media, bullying other liberal states — resemble it.

Heartbreaking.

Children have been falling asleep in the middle of class or bursting into tears. When Silvia’s school was under lockdown because ICE agents were seen nearby, some elementary school-aged children peed themselves. “Nobody said ‘ICE’ or anything like that but the kids know,” she said.
