it's ok I appreciate that. I read way less than I'd like to mainly because of time and energy constraints - tbh I'd love to get into audiobooks but I always find myself being overly picky about the delivery, like some people's reading styles don't click with me at ALL lol

and, again, making enormous assumptions about my own experiences with neurotypicality/ableism/education etc. why did you put the word neurodivergence in scare quotes as if you doubt my claim to that term? hmm.

this whole time I have just been putting examples forwards to try and figure out where the boundaries are, because I find this genuinely interesting. I have made no claims about the "worth" of reading vs listening or anything else. you're taking a very confrontational tone that feels out of place.

may I remind you that you don't know me, and I don't appreciate the assumption of neurotypicality from your end.

comprehension is clearly an important aspect of reading but I don't think it encompasses all of it. I could comprehend spoken sentences as a child long before I could read, for example.

so to go back to the example of listening the archers, which has no visual component but is still definitely being performed, would that be reading, listening to a performance, or some weird inbetween thing? again I'm not trying to be obtuse here I promise :P I just think it's interesting

but all plays have been written - including radio plays. I think there's a distinction between personally reading something and having someone else read or perform something TO you. if I listen to a tv show without looking at the screen does THAT become reading? I would say no.
