Conservatism is about "conserving" the social hierarchies of pre-Enlightenment society. They have been fighting against Liberalization for literally centuries. The difference between an 18th century Conservative and a current one is just how much progress has Liberalism made for them to fight?

A lot of people are making jokes, but it's worth remembering that the thing being "Conserved" in "Conservatism" is the pre-Enlightenment social order.

Conservatism literally is at odds with classical Liberalism. Our Conservatives have just been more moderate and dog-whistley until now.

I am just blown away by what this woman went through and still had the composure to write down a message like this. It's like the American spirit can't help but radiate out of her.

They were afraid it would be done by Liberals. Everything Conservatives have been afraid of in our lifetimes has been because the state was an imperfect but fundamentally Liberal force in society. Conservatism is the ideology of monarchy. They don't believe in small government when they're in power.

Glad to see so many people showed up in Vauxhaul outside Home Depot today. Didn't grab a picture while I was there, but managed to quickly write some signs at red lights on the way.

Something that I've always found so odd, is that Conservatives cultivate this image of being like the founders, but it's this false version of the founders that were all tough brutes instead of intellectuals who were much more similar to today's Liberals that shy away from that heritage.

100% agree. Even while I served a short stint *on* the local party committee it felt very insular. Not being on the committee you wouldn't even know it existed outside of GOTV efforts.

For several years now I've been doing a heritage breed turkey on Thanksgiving. There is only 1 farm I know of in NJ where you can get one, and honestly it's like night and day to me. It just tastes so much more turkey-y. The ubiquitous broad-breasted breeds are inferior and less healthy.

There were a few Trump supporters who kept driving by, and they literally had images of Trump as a king. These people aren't being quiet about it.

He was considered a Liberal in his time too. America was founded on Liberalism and Lincoln was a true believer.

So, rather than have our 4th of July depressed by the bad that has happened and is happening, we should take this opportunity to remember the commitments made in the cause of Liberty throughout our history and resolve to make those same commitments ourselves. And that is worth celebrating. 3/3

The fight that they committed to, to protect and expand liberty, to oppose tyranny, is the same fight we are in. It's not just similar to it, it is in fact the same fight.

There was a great Neonliberalism podcast episode where they broke down how Conservatives have long been trying to come up with Liberal sounding justifications for the policies they support because they just couldn't win if they admitted they wanted to undo the enlightenment.
