Unused again. Even when needing a goal, Ramsay instead subbed in two defenders at 80th min.
Hope there's a question asked next media day for an update on how he's settling in.

On the opposite end of the field, #MNUFC need to make more of our established possession in the final 1/3. Itβs less dangerous than our transitions & set pieces, but they can't always be wasted.
Lod & Pereyra must find better spaces. Connect & create. They were dreadful in Game 1.

Wouldnβt be surprised if Seattle ends up with 75β80%+ possession on Monday night. Weβll have to be nearly flawless defensively to get through it:

31.10.2025 00:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Been thinking about Fitz today. We all had such high expectations, but heβs only played about 20 minutes across the last 3 games and has just 1 start in the last 7.

Ceding space in the 6-yard box twice for the two best chances of the game (per xG) is certainly a bold game plan. π

π΅ When in a 5, important to "calling in the wingbacks to make sure they're narrow enough"
π΅ When in a 4, make sure we are "shifting enough"
π΅ Both systems require compactness

Boxall asked about playing in a back 4 vs 5:
π΅ Boxy prefers back 4
π΅ Easier to 'exert dominance' over opp. striker
π΅ Able to play more progressive passes (jokes DSC plays more passes)
π΅ Gets in more challenges
π΅ Overall feels more involved

100% based take from @jonmarthaler.com
We saw some interesting things in this new back-4 system, but should it scare any future opponent or expect much from it this season? Probably not...
#MNUFC
We saw a few patterns with this new system vs KC:
1. Lod constantly dropping deep to collect. (Had 12! progressive passes received, most all season)
2. Lod & Bongi swapping positions. (Would've liked to see more Bongi runs in-behind)
3. Lod/Pereyra drop deep together & wingers move central.
#MNUFC
Could see some of our principles in the 442...
Shape: Very compact, minimal space between the lines. Focused on the central areas.
Triggers: Back passes often triggers team to close space. (Trapp directs)
Counter-press: 1-2 press (Bongi this situation) while rest of the defense recovers.

It's only been about 300 minutes but I am on the Triantis train. So good on the ball in tight spaces, great passing range, strong & wins most duels, long range threat. I think we may have hit a home run on him...
#MNUFC
Halftime:
Pereyra is playing way too high for my liking.
Would like Rosales & especially Bongi to make more runs into the space Lod creates when he's constantly dropping into the midfield.
Diaz or Markanich a little more courage in final third.

Tani gone, Yeboah hurt (& out of form) = no counter. Bongi can't become this piece overnight after playing RWB all season. Also can't live on our set piece threat. Ramsay forced into a 4231 & build-up approach. Timing couldn't be worse, but heβs got no choice but to try something...

Ramsay comments on #MNUFC switching to a back 4 at halftime:
π¦ Allow for better pressure on the ball
π¦ Another player higher up the pitch to connect with
π₯ Game becomes more open than Ramsay would like
Ooooo almost got into some interesting tactical comments. Ramsay discussing Lod vs. Bongi at striker - pros/cons of each & who do play around them to compensate for their specific abilities.
Something to keep an eye on the remainder of the season.
