I often wondered what the world would look like if the most ignorant, dangerous & daft opinions of radio phone-in hosts/callers were permitted to prevail. I never expected to find outโ€ฆ

Plastic pollution 'grave and growing' health threat: Lancet Plastic pollution is a "grave, growing and under-recognized danger" to health that is costing the world at least $1.5 trillion a year, experts warned in a report on Monday.

We need to produce significantly less plastic; recycle a lot more of what is produced; and stop the rest getting into natural ecosystems

As much of the US braces for extreme heat, statistics show 2,000 die from it annually As extreme heat is forecast to invade most of the United States this week, health departments are warning people to take steps to survive.

Extreme heat is the deadliest weather-related hazard in the U.S., claiming roughly 2,000 people annually, but experts note the official heat-related death toll may be undercounted due to heat sometimes not being considered as a factor in someone's death.

BLM Calls New Oil and Gas Rules โ€˜Noncontroversial,โ€™ Exempts Them From Public Comment - Inside Climate News Environmentalists say the lack of public comment shows the administrationโ€™s disregard for maintaining public lands.

This is an outrage. Governments "of the people, by the people, for the people" allow public input on proposed courses of action. Trump's government is of the fossil fuel industry, by the fossil fuel industry, and for the fossil fuel industry, at the expense of our health & planetary health.

The renewable energy revolution is a feat of technology | Rebecca Solnit An energy revolution is underway in this century, though most people have not noticed it

An energy revolution is underway in this century, though itโ€™s unfolded in ways slow enough and technical enough for most people not to notice (and I assume itโ€™s nowhere near finished). It is astonishing โ€“ a powerful solution to the climate crisis... [Wrote it a while ago; came out yesterday.]

Prediction: as electricity costs (continue to) rise in coming years, Trump & the right will falsely blame clean energy & the quiescent US political press will dutifully amplify that message. A coherent, competent communications apparatus would see that coming & do something to forestall it ...

When we donโ€™t build new housing in the places rich people want to live, they buy existing older homes and renovate them into luxury housing.

When we DO build new market rate housing, rich people move into it, setting off a โ€œmoving on upโ€ effect that creates vacancy in the cheapest housing.
