curious what cards you'd have liked to see in their stead if you don't mind me asking. The Tymna ability on Cecil reads as thematic to me (given his card in standard) but i have no knowledge of FF4. I get the Tidus merfolk joke, but I'll concede that that one is a stretch

I didn't know that card existed! It's probably good as hell in Samut, since I often find myself trying to take the entire table out in a single combat step. Her ability discounting it to only 4 mana is also super helpful.

Elemental mastery could do work in my (DFT) Samut deck actually. Her ability both discounts the spell and pumps the tokens it makes. There's also a few other decent targets for it in the deck (Champion of Lambholt, Devilish Valet are the first 2 that come to mind)
