Not sure why I'm deep cleaning, but I am (probably because I really Should Be Writing(TM)).
I'm wondering why I felt the need for the massive amount of glitter that I've found. That I totally forgot I had. Not to mention the 3 massive bottles of glue.
(I will never get an answer.)

My (inadvertent) glass jar collection is meeting the things I can't quite get rid of because, damn it, I do end up using them occasionally.
A few of the jars were originally meant for the bathroom... until the shelf collapsed and I had the fun of cleaning up glass bits.

Usually what happens is I take time off and that fills with appointments and projects and I'm busy the entire time and it's not really a break. I barely told anyone I was off, and stayed (mostly) at home. This has been a break. Returning to work tomorrow is going to be a chore.

I even successfully ignored the purging I've been working on. Ha! (I'll never be a minimalist, but I want Things to have a Place: currently not every Thing does. I don't mind caring for Things I love, but caring for Things I'm ambivalent about? No thank you.)

I took last week off because the stars aligned (no pressing projects at work, no appointments or huge home projects). It was sorely needed: I managed to work on a writing project (coming to the conclusion it's at Draft 0 and needs a complete overhaul) and putter.

You know, I think WisCon spoiled me for attending online conferences. I adore their setup of having a Discord chat for every panel. So much easier to read all the comments people make AND easily accessible after it's done!

Weβve really all gotta be a lot more clear headed and open eyed about this. Joni Earnstβs belief system is IN THE MAJORITY in our federal leadership. βAccept Jesus or dieβ is our national policy. βKill as many people as possible to trigger the apocalypseβ IS THE PLAN.

I got tired of digging up and then moving the pavers: they were fully buried, so only the top showed. Thought It was important to get them dug out now, while I still can. Moving can wait until another day.
26.05.2025 23:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
The original plan was to place my firepit in the middle and fill in around the rest with stones or something, IDK. But as the gas line now runs beneath... The surrounding pavers came from the edge. Not sure how I'll fill the trench left behind, but that's a worry for another time.

I'm not moving the sidewalk panels again - those suckers were heavy. The gas guys thought the layout looked witchy (LOL: not traditionally so, but they're not wrong per se) and I'd like to do something cool . (Yes, at some point I'll upload a pic. Probably after I finish moving the damned trim.)
26.05.2025 18:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Pondering what to do with my not-a-firepit. It was built using old sidewalk panels and I'd planned to use it as a firepit, but then my gas line had to be redone and it now goes right under the firepit. It seems really unadvisable to have flames over a gas line, even if covered by earth.

I have very little interest in gardening, so having so much space set aside for some kind of floral beds that is Not Happening seems stupid. I'd rather it become yard (and I'd rather the yard not be grass.)
26.05.2025 18:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
It's rained enough here I've accidentally started a project I've been noodling for a while: removing the side yard border and putting the stones around my not-a-firepit. Taking a break now, and not sure what to do with the trench left from digging them out.

Ways you may have 'met' me before:
As squidkiller on Twitter (account hacked, then deleted with extreme prejudice by mods, which I'll die mad about); from attending an online conference (Open Graves, Open Minds / SFWA Nebulas / WisCon); NaNoWriMo; or through a Writing the Other class.

A porch light on the side of a house with a bird in a nest on top.
I had supervision as I worked in my garage this morning. She let me get very close (right underneath her is a deck box that I had to rummage around in to find some things I needed: she didn't move). I think it's a robin. Maybe. (Thought I saw a red breast as she flew around.)

I don't think anyone missed me, but I'd never know, would I? Besides totally killing the account, Twitter wiped my entire history. Including everyone I followed. I'd very carefully curated my account, and that hurt.

It was a loss. I don't think I had any particular friends on Twitter, but I had people I liked to follow and tweet with upon occasion. (I've always been terrible at making friends: I'd had the account since 2006).

So, about 3 years ago (when Twitter was just changing over to X) someone hacked my account. And then Twitter killed it. No appeal could get it back. I always wonder what the hacker posted, given that I was banned from ever having another account.
