Fare capping is something advocates have been calling for for over a decade!

Never stop advocating for what you believe in.

the 40-tap fare cap is going to be particularly transformative, as it is a number that a lot of TTC users hit and exceed and on a monthly basis.

but even in 2026, seniors, youth, and low-income pass users will save at least $18-$24 per month over the current monthly pass if they're frequent riders

2026 Budget also lowers wait times across the TTC, with significant improvements to streetcars and subways, implements new and accessible signage at select stations and stops, expands Community Crisis Service workers to Line 1 downtown, and much more.

2026 will be a great year for transit!

It's official! Fare capping and a fare freeze is coming to the TTC! Just now, City Council voted to approve the Mayor's Budget that invests in more reliable, affordable, and accessible transit - including a 47-tap fare cap that goes down to 40 taps in 2027, and the third year of no fare hike.

β€œWe keep asking for the food for the puppy that you’re giving us, and then (governments) just give us another puppy,” Cooper said. β€œWhat am I supposed to do with that? What we need to actually feed the puppy ... that’s just not attractive to decisionmakers.”

City Councillors will vote on Toronto's Budget next week, which includes historic investments in affordability - the third consecutive fare freeze in a row, and the roll-out of fare capping.

But we know not all Councillors are fans! Join us tonight for a phone zap collab with Environmental Defence!

We hear it's gonna be significantly faster than the bus! Although we'll see if that's true for the Scarborough section alone...

Toronto could unlock transit potential by revitalizing surface network: advocate A presentation set to be delivered before the TTC Board today argues that revitalizing surface transit to make it attractive to riders would involve giving vehicles β€œreal priority” by extending green ...

Today I'll be presenting at TTC about a comprehensive plan to revitalize surface transit in Toronto. To be effective, it needs to be implemented as a package but it could radically improve the speed and reliability of streetcars, LRT, and buses.

We’re at the TTC Board meeting today. CEO Mandeep Lali is giving an update about Line 5.

He’s really milking the presentation keeping us on the edge of our seats about whether it’s gonna open on Feb 8th.

Stay tuned for updates.

There were β€œrepeated attempts” from the TTC since Monday to get a satisfactory explanation from Metrolinx.

The TTC didn’t get one they were satisfied with enough to reassure the public the line is safe until Wednesday, after headlines went up that the opening date was again called into question.

Scathing. And throughout all this infighting and finger pointing, riders are left behind. All we want is transit that works!

Steve Munro appreciation post!! Thank you for everything that you do advocating for better transit. The TTC would be much worse off without your advocacy, and our work would be so, so much harder.

We’re looking forward to many more years of collaborating, scheming and fist shaking! ❀️❀️❀️

Objectively good news indeed @ttcriders.bsky.social !

But the City also committed to installing the bike lanes on Eglinton once the LRT opened (after postponing the work back in the fall).

No more delays. This spring Toronto needs to complete Eglinton.

Eglinton Crosstown LRT opening on Feb. 8, TTC reportedly tells Doug Ford Construction on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, which will operate as Line 5 Eglinton, began in 2011. It was supposed to be done in 2020.

Objectively good news! But we need:

We need a public inquiry to make sure future transit projects don’t face the same issues.

Assurances from Metrolinx and Crosslinx that it won’t have the same problems as Line 6.

Signal priority ASAP.

We need it to work.
