Yeah, I'm not going to say anything here either.

Yeah, the most memorable bit of my first game (that had FOUR Hall of Famers, apparently) was some kid named Danny yarfing on the bus on the way back.

Vance Law (off of Bert Blyleven). I had to look that one up, though.

First one I remember without scoresheet help is a Keith Moreland grand slam.

Inside you are two wolves. They are moving in perfect sync. They are Drift Compatible. You are a Pacific Rim Jaeger in a universe where wolves are the dominant species.

Vinn diagram. Prometheus, Saruman, and the Dude from Big Lebowski. The overlap between Prometheus and Sauruman: "cunning fire and technology wielder". Saruman and the Dude: "Obsession with large heavy ball". The Dude and Prometheus: "Severe liver damage". Overlap for all three: "Hates the fucking eagles"

#JulyCheatandSteal update:
DHoaMGR was...fine. Surprise appearance by a baby Harrison Ford, but no tension. The Great Train Robbery was, as always, a good time.

Sunday was Elliot Gould night - The Silent Partner and The Long Goodbye. Hadn't seen either; both now highly recommended.

Tonight was opening night for this year's #JulyCheatandSteal; The Last of Sheila and Glass Onion.

Tomorrow continues with the fabulously named Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round (beyond that title and James Coburn starring, I have no knowledge of this movie) and The Great Train Robbery.

We were watching The Martian again because, well, it was on, and what, are we NOT going to watch The Martian?

Anyway, I was thinking that, if they had really wanted to add tension to whether they were going to get Mark Watney back or not, that's the role they should have cast Sean Bean in.

The β€˜Crispy R’ and Why R Is the Weirdest Letter I made a bunch of linguists listen to this social media phenomenon and tell me what’s going on.

β€œThe linguists were careful to note that any conclusions about the crispy R at this stage are still preliminary."

Beginning of an article reading "Even if you're not an anthropologist, you've probably encountered one of this
field's most influential notions, known as Man the Hunter. The theory
proposes that hunting was a major driver of human evolution and that men
carried this activity out to the exclusion of women. It holds that human ancestors had a
division of labor, rooted in biological differences between males and females, in which
males evolved to hunt and provide, and females tended to children and domestic
duties. It assumes that males are physically superior to females and that pregnancy
and child-rearing reduce or eliminate a female's ability to hunt.
Man the Hunter has dominated the study of human evolution for nearly half a century
and pervaded popular culture. It is represented in museum dioramas and textbook
figures, Saturday morning cartoons and feature films. The thing is, it's wrong."

You will be shocked, shocked to hear that "The Theory That Men Evolved to Hunt and Women Evolved to Gather Is Wrong"! πŸ™„ Duh! OF COURSE IT'S WRONG. But now there's a cool article listing the biological and evidentiary reasons, along with nifty diagrams.

You know a baseball season is tight when, at the end, you can pick out a specific bad decision by a fielder that may have turned out to be the difference between making the playoffs and not.

Of course, not starting toast at first base for three months could have made that irrelevant, too.
