The groundhog awakes from its slumber. It rises from its nest, towering over the land. Its shadow spills over all creation. Winter tightens its icy grip for centuries to come. Summer is but a distant memory.

A lone tall tree amidst the remnants of a clear cut silhouetted against the aurora borealis. The left, middle, and right sides of the image are slices from different moments as the aurora evolved.

Purely in terms of the naked eye visual experience, tonight actually exceeded both May and October 2024 for me.

Wowzers. That’s the dream (minus the plane).

1. We’re coming off the crest of an 11 year min/max activity cycle.
2. This is the first solar cycle in history where everyone is walking around with a phone camera capable of documenting them AND a plethora of platforms on which to do so.
3. I believe the previous solar cycle was a bit of a dud.

Crazy sunrise this morning. Looked like it was late July during wildfire season.

My dead one is that old as well. I lost it around the time my six year old was born. I assumed I must’ve left it somewhere in my new-parent daze. Years later, I found it in with my guitar pedals. I still cannot explain this.

I would, but those Apple Pencils are pricey.

I have a second Apple Pencil (lost one, bought a new one, found the old one) that I’d 100% have given ya, but sadly its battery has died for good from sitting unused for too long. It’s only good for prying gunk out of the drain now. 👎
