today's liberal internationalist take is that you can't be an american liberal internationalist if you don't have a real plan to stop this fuckery from happening again

I honestly think it's gross that people like you continue to imply it's unethical to not wear a mask under current conditions.

The American president is more insulated from accountability than a British royal.

Our political system provides the elite with immunity. It has to change.

There's the assumption that the only vision of Christianity in this country is white supremacist in evangelical Christianity and that's a huge erasure of the progressive Christian vision shared by millions of BIPOC and white Christians.

Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate🧧

The last Year of the Fire Horse began in '66 & saw anti-war protests & civil rights struggle. It was the year Rev. Jackson left seminary to join Dr. King’s Freedom Movement.

May 2026 bring New York the same bold change people deserve.

in the same way that Dem policies poll a lot better when you don't prime voters to think about how we pay for them, R policies poll a lot better when voters aren't primed to think about how we enforce them, and Dems should do more to leverage that

I still think the internet is the best comp for AI. It was a bubble that popped, but the underlying tech turned out to be real. It enabled a bunch of psychosis and slop, but also some genuinely cool stuff. Massive labor market disruptions, but employment levels look about the same.

As somebody who has worked on Wall Street for the last 19 years, I promise you that a lot of people who are insanely rich - not just average millionaires, people with true wealth - are dumb as dog shit, but just have no morals and know ways to make tons of money by not caring about hurting people.

By the time the campaign starts, my first choice is almost certainly going to be AOC, but I’ll be willing to unite behind almost anyone to prevent Newsom. Pritzker, Whitmer, even Buttigieg. People whose first choice is not AOC need to be willing to do the same.

Democracy is a Skill as much as a System. It requires a population that believes their participation matters and that they bear responsibility for outcomes.

The learned helplessness is absolutely corrosive to both liberty and self governance.

You will rue the day you threw it away.

The biggest political divide on here is not between left and liberal but between "politics is real and involves real outcomes for real people" and "no it doesn't fuck you"

Not MAHA: Clean air, clean water, health insurance, vaccines, disease monitoring, scientific research, food assistance, food safety, bike lanes

Trump posted a video depicting the first Black president and his wife as apes and his excuse for this is that it's a riff on The Lion King, a movie that does not feature any apes. Somehow this was a one-day story and we've already moved on.

This may shock you but lots of people do believe it is the responsibility of citizens of a democracy to defend their democracy, that citizens do have a burden to vote and engage with the maintenance of society.

The far-right hates liberalism in part because liberalism empowered women socially, politically, and economically, and so made them less dependent on settling for a mediocre man to provide for them. So they want to destroy liberalism to return women to a state of powerlessness and dependence.

One of the reasons I so greatly dislike the β€œcan men and women be friends?” nonsense (yes, full stop, shut up) is that it casts suspicion on people with opposite-sex friends instead of where it more often belongs: on people with no opposite-sex friends.
