An old advertisement sign in what is now the cafe. It is headed Bexhill West Station. The first part is obscured by a table so I can’t read it clearly but judging by the end of the words it says tea coffee bovril. The next part says chocolates sweets. Fruit pies 3 and a half d each. The last part reads tobacco cigarettes newspapers. Underneath it says railway Cos.

The old Bexhill West station is worth a visit. It was opened in 1902 by the South East & Chatham Railway. As part of the infamous Beeching cuts it closed in 1964. It’s now home to a cafe and an antiques shop but the interior is barely changed.
