While tailored biocatalysts able to cleave Cβ€”F bonds represent an attractive strategy to remediate organofluorides, Nature is largely agnostic to Cβ€”F bonds. Fluoroacetate dehalogenases (FAcDs) stands out by promoting the hydrolysis of single Cβ€”F bonds in fluoroacetate at high turnover rates. (2/5)
