Grateful to @saveamericamvmt.bsky.social for supporting and amplifying. We are in really terrible trouble.

That's true. But the real question is how fast this happens, ie. timescale of waning vs genetic adaptation. Prior to 2023 we saw a whole array of distant variants emerge "randomly" (compared to say flu). Only since end of 2023 have we been in more antigenic drift scenario. Why? Still unpredictable.

11.10.2025 20:52 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Big wave in 23 was due to little underlying immunity following emergence of BA.2.86 and subvariants (JN.1, ...) during summer of 2023 (>30 spike mutations compared to earlier variants). Current circulating variants (XFG) are still fairly similar descendents of what was circulating back then.

Infectious virus persisted throughout the cheese-making process and aging in cheeses made with raw milk at pH levels above 5.0.

Nice graph, but to gauge & compare recent dynamics in early autumn to previous seasons, it would make sense to show data as normal calendar year starting week 1.

06.10.2025 12:59 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The caption below the graph #1 is wrong. The graph does not show rates of confirmed Covid, but rates of ARI (acute respiratory infections ) which is much less specific. For example in January-February 2025, the peak of ARI is principally due to circulation of influenza viruses, not Covid.

🦟 West Nile virus in Europe
As summer progresses, IT, EL, RO, BG & FR have reported 163 locally acquired human cases of #WestNileVirus infection so far this year.
📊 This is above the 10-year average for this point in the season, but far below the same period in record years of 2024 & 2018.
There is a broad scientific consensus that significant challenges remain before reliable estimates of community prevalence of disease can be made from wastewater RNA monitoring.
It's a laudable goal, but the science is not there yet.

29.07.2025 13:06 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0How might AS01 work? It contains MPL (a TLR4 agonist) and QS-21, which activate dendritic cells and trigger IFN-γ responses, factors implicated in reducing amyloid pathology and slowing cognitive decline in prior studies.
An intriguing immunologic pathway for neuro-protection worth exploring.
Nice!
