As our ability to make new proteins in a high throughput manner increases, there is a need to create a platform that allows for rapid characterization of these proteins.
NEB recently published our HIKER platform (on Opentrons OT-2) to showcase 1500 time pts of misincorporations of our polymerases.

As we rush around towards the 2024 work finish line before the holidays, here's your blood donation reminder.
We are in need of all types, so please consider donating. Centres normally see a drop off in donations due to the chaotic festive season.

Jenny Molloy from University of Cambridge talks about the significant disparity for African countries to advance in scientific research. Factors such as access to reagents, cost burden of cold chain logistics, lack of manufacturing capabilities severely slows down progress.

My mum took me to see Grave of the Fireflies when I was 7. It left me traumatized. It was animation but the storyline was for adults!

This is a tough one. For me, I have sentimental ties with real trees as this is what we got every year in the states. For me, its all sensory: picking the tree in a cold parking lot, strapping it to our car, windows down and holding on tight to the rope, the smell of pine etc.

Sometimes getting an idea across with words can be difficult. Mark Dawson @mafdawson.bsky.social used this simple but effective image to get the EMBO students thinking about the definition of Epigenetics.
Story telling is so important in science.

When we come together, we can do great things!
Afrigen's main goal is to close the gap on vaccine inequality by manufacturing mRNA vaccines for low income countries. This is achieved by partnerships w/ different entities like mRNA Victoria, New England Biolabs & many more.
