81 years ago, Signalman 1st class Douglas Munro was killed while evacuating Marines during the Second Battle of the Matanikau (Guadalcanal). For his actions he would become the only member of the Coast Guard awarded the Medal of Honor. It is currently on display at the U.S. Coast Guard Museum
