A two person bike rides along the wet red brick street in front of a gated courtyard surrounded by two story houses built I’d guess in the 1700. This is a hofje which wealthy people built for unwed/widowed women since after the Protestant revolution you could no longer guild churches to show off your wealth. Plus, can’t have those unwed women running around loose!

I went on a tour recently. Fun fact: during the Renaissance this was also a prison that performed public executions.

No, not this one, but there is one just outside town, actually a (no longer in use) Synagog that has a grave yard.

No, but it is the only kind of car that can legally drive in the bike lanes. They've been around since the 1970s.

This is a small church in an architectural style I don’t recognize. It’s odd set from the brick road and lit by two lamp posts. This is in a street in the middle of town I had never walked before. No idea what the building actually functions as.

Believe it or not there is a wide variety of types of places in NL. Haarlem is know to be a very cute little city, but we have very modern places even in Haarlem.

And I'm taking these photos in the early morning when it's quiet.
