Like the govt covid response was already abysmal and I wish more people would understand that WE keep us safe. We all as a society have to decide for ourselves that we’re not gonna abandon each other and depressingly it simply has not… gone that way… to say the least 😮‍💨

I think maybe the scariest thing about bird flu is that if/when it becomes a human pandemic situation I don’t think we can expect another lockdown or rly like, anything in the way of public health assistance or education or even news coverage the way we got for covid (which was already insufficient)

4/ and taking the steps to deal with what that means- is hard yea, it’s a lot of grief. But at least you can start the grieving process and learn how to move through that instead of trying to live in a make believe that YOU KNOW doesn’t exist anymore. Your brain and your soul will feel better for it

3/ people who know the govt lies but took Biden’s word when he ended the PHE and continue to ignore mounting evidence that covid not only never went away but the long term effects are getting worse and worse are living with a cognitive dissonance that has to be eating away at them, accepting reality

2/ the physical act of wearing the mask not only protects you and your community from the ongoing pandemic(s) but it signals to your own brain that you care about yourself and others, which has a ripple effect causing you to think and act in a caring manner more and more in all facets of life

I’m about to go to bed but I have to get this thought angle out before I forget it: if u stopped, u should start wearing masks in public spaces again bc it will make you a better person. kinder, more morally vigilant, less susceptible to peer pressure, better able to enforce your own boundaries,

a mask is the thing you’re looking for. it is the visible reminder of how things have changed, that you acknowledge we are not coveted “normal” times—but unlike donation-earned tote bags or symbolic beaded bracelets, the mask is community care in both form & immediate function.
