Robert Jenrick defected to Reform last month GUY BELL/ALAMY Robert Jenrick to be Reform's pick for chancellor Nigel Farage says he is announcing choices for topjobs to avoid being seen as a 'one-man band' Daisy Eastlake, Political Reporter | Oliver Wright, Policy Editor Monday February 16 2026, 9.25pm, The Times

Farage scrabbles around in his grubby little cesspit of cheats, fools and racists and chooses Robert *cash-for-favours* Jenrick as his chancellor. I guess it was between him, a tax dodger or a couple of morons.
But still. That β€œexperience of government” is looking very much like the wrong kind…

The announcement that the proposed delay to the elections to the new unitary councils will go ahead is good.
The more councils REFORM win control of the more ppl will see what a shower of useless grifters they are.

Hi Jan, why is the y-axis on the right hand side in GW? It’s meaningless in terms of energy storage.

Whitehall called it β€œunder-tucking” where budgets could be assigned to multiple purposes: see overseas development aid and research, or defence and health.

And GWh is really just energy (joules)

Exactly

Batteries don’t generate energy.
Nuclear does.

Agreed, batteries are like capacitors in a circuit, smoothing short period )minutes to a few hours at most) fluctuations in demand.
Other storage systems that have far greater energy capacity are needed to fill in supply gaps for days / weeks.

Nothing like a lack of strategic thinking by government.

Not curios when we know who sets the agenda

I’m seeing that you yanks don’t get irony.
But, watching your movies, I should not be surprised.

16.02.2026 22:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It’s probably not statistically significant, but the replies I get to this from the uk and Europe recognise the ironic intention, but from the USA you take it at face value.
Cultural differences?

Now that is something I agree with you on.
The evidence is there.
It may not be complicity in genocide, but it’s excusing a breach of human rights.

Hi Debbie, us Brits have a sense of irony that doesn’t translate well across the pond.

16.02.2026 22:04 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Trump discredited himself by stating the destruction of the Iran nuclear program, or it was destroyed and he’s just positioning for a false flag to attack.

16.02.2026 22:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Not sure the uk is supporting Trump in any way at all.
