A former head of Sustrans did some consulting for our local council. He said women would be scared of cycling along a cycleway beside a main A road and so the council should send them along the parallel deserted bridleway instead.

Thankfully the council was persuaded otherwise.

Watching/'attending' the @greenparty.org.uk Conference online and feeling a little bit of FOMO over not being there in person, but I think I'll be glad that I wasn't when starting work on Monday. #gpconf

Nish Kumar, "What is the Green Party's vision for how we redraw the economy of this country?"

Zack Polanski, "The first thing is to have a big conversation about public ownership"

"Nothing we need, and need to use, should be in private hands. All of our utilities should be nationalised"

Helsinki went an entire year without a single road death.

Almost all of these deaths were readily avoidable. Allowing these people to die was a political choice to underfund public and active transport, and to prioritise driver convenience over lives.

Reminded me of this story: www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/2549689...

"One motorist told the Echo they had to abandon their car and walk to make sure they got to the museum in time."

If only there was some way to avoid the traffic chaos?

Starmer says past governments have been "squeamish" talking about immigration. Bullshit.

Starmer isn't bravely breaking a taboo. He's blaming vulnerable people & deflecting attention from the super rich who hoard power & wealth.

New figures: councils spent Β£2.8 billion on temporary accommodation for 2024/25 up 25% in a year

Private landlords are cashing in on this crisis

We can’t afford to ignore the need for genuinely affordable social homes – the only solution to the housing emergency.

Privatisation of UK industries is driving cost of living crisis, says Greens leader Zack Polanski calls mass privatisation a β€˜failed experiment’ as report finds it has cost UK households Β£250 a year more

The Conservatives started this experiment.

But Labour are fully on board too.

No 10 refuse to comment or take action - but we're all paying the price for corporate greed.

The scenes on our streets are shameful consequences of decades of austerity - government after government fanning the flames of anti migration instead of tackling inequality.

We can & must make different choices. Solidarity to all communities under attack. We stand together.

Trans people are anxiously waiting for the EHRC’s final guidance to be published, following its extreme and unworkable interim guidance. I know many are worried it will further the exclusion of trans people. I've written to govt to say that we MPs must be given time to debate it.
