I don’t understand why UNB hasn’t addressed issues with the 50/50 system they started using last year. Amounts have fallen from an average of around $4,000 a weekend to just $600. With tight budgets I’d think that lost $1,700/week would be important.

It would be great if they had two categories, one for the best fundamentals, and one free style. I’d consume a lot more burgers and poutines if they did.

Now a crown corporation fused with Canada Post called CanMove (parcels and people!), that uses the ArriveCAN app for ordering your robot taxi… I’m all for it!

I’d like to see use of this setup for indicating a zipper merge from construction congestion in NB:

I have been starting to read up on more specifics, with this report being a good starting point:

That is generally my understanding as well, but even then if merge area is too small, traffic is lighter then expected, drivers are not expecting it, etc… then it can cause abrupt braking leading to congestion.

My major complaint is people advocating for all merges (regardless of flow) be zipper.

It is not always more efficient. Factors such as road design, traffic flow, percentage of certain types of traffic (eg heavy trucks) will determine when it is and isn’t more efficient.

In average free flowing traffic, it has at best no benefit and often negative effects.

My latest annoyance is people ranting about Maritimers not zipper merging.

A z.merge should only be done when signage indicates it! If it’s says “no passing”, “merge left/right”, “lane ends”, etc… then that 100% does not mean a zipper merge is ok.

DOT is in charge of that choice, not drivers!

Are people ok that cell service (Bell/Telus) in uptown Fredericton has been pretty much non-functional for the last week? Seems like it would be newsworthy.

With the very solid rumour that the Fredericton St.Hubert/Harvey’s will become a Kelsey’s, I’d like to reflect on how terrible it was to jam a Harvey’s into that location. It never recovered.

They have been chartered by Sunwing to operate some of their flights.

Sad. I guess he stays on the list.
