Two months ago, we released automatic schema migrations.
We built it to be bulletproof: work for any data lineage, every time. But we were using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Now we're getting surgical: www.tinybird.co/blog-posts/w...

I added something similar to the Tinybird Forward CLI, hope this makes someone's life a little easier :)
I built a logs explorer that scales to BILLIONS of rows and is FAST. We open-sourced it, and now...

16.02.2025 13:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0There are many other interesting things about this release!
Here is Cameron using it to build a Next.js app, where you can see the new local experience and Cursor/LLM integration better => youtu.be/oe__vyW6NtQ
Aaand here's Fabri talking about the docs => bsky.app/profile/thel...
We have some way to go yet, both in new functionality and streamlining some already existing things, but weβre all πfor feedback!
16.02.2025 13:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We are offloading all that complexity to ourselves. You just add whatever you want your tables and transformations to be, and how you want the transformation of old data (some casting for a type change, or some default for a new column for instance) and thatβs it => www.tinybird.co/docs/v2/test...
16.02.2025 13:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We have seen customers struggle with this time and time again, and weβve provided some tools to ease the process.
We provided the necessary tools to run data migrations, but you still needed to run the backfill yourself, coordinate changes with Materialized Views, etc.
Data migrations can be cumbersome but relatively straightforward IF you donβt work with:
(a) real-time ingestion,
(b) real-time reads,
(c) triggers that transform data at write time (a special kind of materialized views)
Well, Tinybird has all three π

Iβm excited about the new experience and how it makes sense end-to-end as a whole, but personally Iβm particularly happy about how ambitious weβve been with the deployment part π
