Puts one in mind of a bit from the British TV comedy Yes Minister which, restructured as a standalone joke would be, "What do you call it when as otherwise qualified prelate has been denied a bishopric for many years?" A: "Long time no see".

I have often wondered that. It's also long.

But at least EHR shifts work to frontline staff in order to (theoretically?) make things more efficient elsewhere, like billing I guess. With AI it feels more like "use it because we spent a lot of money on a system and/or we have to give the appearance of being up to date.

I have lots of orthopedic injuries from mountain bikes but they've healed well! A thing you have to watch out for in SUP is when the wind comes up at an angle and you end up doing a long paddle almost all on one side. SUP seems good for core strength though, eg potentially avoiding back pain.

Had a bit of shoulder pain this morning from a 5km paddle yesterday with the first half into a headwind gusting 20kts. But the downwind was a magical chaos surf in cross chop and I recapitulated my resolve to do balance-intensive sports until my last breath.

Everyone lost their minds about it at the time too, popular media was all over it. What will become of us?

Coming back from AGBT this February, I was attempting to convince my colleagues that it's possible that animal died there, was fossilized and they built the airport around it. It's been there as long as I can remember.

Well I'm at a ski resort on the west coast watching it a pleasant hour of the evening.

I'm a group leader of a three person lab automation team, so we're conscious of the very real repetitive strain injury pain of not automating in high throughput labs. But the goal is to reduce the emotional toll for everyone by training and making it easier.

Ah I see. yes it's the same with engineers and machine shops. But the dream would be to train the undergrads on automated liquid handlers. We desperately need more lab people who know their way around pipetting robots!

This Eppendorf vs Rainin vs Gilson debate is all very well but have you considered just porting the whole thing to an automated liquid handler?

And to be fair, in Vancouver at least there are actual multibillion dollar first nations housing projects which get around our stupid zoning policies because it's on their traditional land.

The Richmond BC branch of our metal supplier is richmond@metalsupermarkets.com. When I write for quotes for our institutional machine shop, I find it impossible not to address them as Henry, Earl of Richmond in Richard III. "My Dearest Richmond, forsooth I desire 1pc of 4"x6"x12" 6061-T6 Al plate".
