Just spent a few days in Park Slope and Midtown Manhattan and the difference between spatial awareness of kids/teens who are Brooklyn native and the 20-something suburban kids flooding Manhattan was palpable.

Katabasis
R.F. Kuang
⭐⭐
I really liked Babel, but Katabasis was trope-y, and unexciting. Why would two students go chasing after their exploded prof in Hell when he's basically a thieving, misogynist asshole? Try-hards are boring.
Just finished Omar El Akkad's One Day Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This. A must read!
Also re-reading Stephen King's It and remembering all the things I had forgotten about from when I first read it when it came out. The sexualization of Beverly as an 11 yo (and as an adult)—is v smdh
I took lessons in the 70s and skates now are def different to what I used to have. Women’s skates have higher heels and some skates have what look like more technical blade construction. Boots look more molded for individual fit.
I loved the Japanese woman’s silver heels in her team free skate.
No new pictures. Where are you now mentally

31.01.2026 12:42 — 👍 11 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Dear Ms. Cox-Smith, Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding the death of Alex Pretti. As your voice in Washington, it is my responsibility to represent the citizens of North Carolina's Sixth District, and I truly appreciate your input. On January 24th, during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis, federal law enforcement officers were engaged in a confrontation leading to the death of Mr. Pretti. The tragic videos coming out of Minneapolis depict a chaotic scene that never should have happened in the first place. ICE and Border Patrol have critical and dangerous jobs. Their jobs are made more dangerous by the actions and rhetoric coming directly from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. I applaud President Trump's decision to send Tom Homan to Minnesota to help end the chaos and bring accountability to the situation.
Additionally, I am calling on Governor Waltz and Mayor Frey to fully cooperate with Tom Homan as he works to restore safety and arrest violent criminal illegal aliens. I will continue to monitor as new details emerge regarding this incident, and though I do not serve on the House Homeland Security Committee, I will be following any hearings they hold on this matter. Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. Our constitutional republic thrives when citizens and their elected representatives actively discuss the issues facing their country and local communities. When working with my colleagues in Congress, with federal agencies, and with state and local officials, I am committed to making sure your voice is heard and fighting for the best interests of the people in North Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District. It is truly an honor to serve you in Congress. To receive regular updates, follow me on social media @RepMcDowell (X, Facebook) and sign up for my newsletter here. I look forward to hearing from you in the future. Sincerely, Rep. Addison McDowell Member of Congress
This is the response I got from my Congressional Rep Addison McDowell (R-NC6) after I messaged his office about CBP and ICE funding. They literally blame Good and Pretti for their own deaths. Despicable! (He's also the one who brought a bill to rename Dulles airport for Trump)
Vote them all out!
My partner and I have a lovely set of Mouseman bookends that were given to us as a wedding present from the Best Man's parents. Will treasure them always!

She once spent three days in the hospital because her dose was too high and her blood was so thin it was leaking through her organs. Trumps bruising seems v similar.
