#PackwoodLake is a remote lake bordering the #GoatRocks Wilderness in the #CascadeMountains of #Washington state. #JohnsonPeak (right of center 7257') and #OldSnowy mountain (left of center 7838') rise up behind the lake and support glaciers providing cold water year-round.

at 14,410' above sea level Tahoma towers above everything around it. This is a shot in spring when there is still a lot of snow on the mountain and surrounding ridges. Clouds provide some nice contrast and interesting shapes.

a creek with many channels crosses across this shot as it empties into Kachess Lake. Most of the ground is covered in snow which provides a striking background for the shadows of evergreen trees and the blue and turquoise of the lake.

I would highly recommend checking out nearby Rainbow Falls (also in the morning).

Meanwhile, driving 3 hours away, hiking multiple hours uphill with thousands of dollars of camera equipment, waiting until the lighting is perfect, and hiking back in the dark thru bear and cougar territory just to get a good photo nets about 3 likes if I’m lucky.

South Fork Sauk River near #DarringtonWA. I thought the changing colors of the leaves contrasted nicely with the blues in the river.
