It's in anticipation of the changes from the "big beautiful bill" that went through government. A lot of people in retirement homes have gotten similar letters this week. It's all related to that bill. 🙃

Starting October 1st, 2025 I will no longer be accepting any insurance or Medicare. As of November 1st 2025, I will no longer be providing any routine gynecologic services such as annual exams, Pap smears, or problem-focused visits. However, I’m happy to offer referrals to trusted providers for those needs.

After much reflection, Thrive made the difficult decision to transition away from accepting insurance plans and will no longer bill insurance starting 10/4/25. Insurances have increasingly limited the scope of care we provide. Reimbursements continue to decrease and in order for practices to survive, each provider must see 6 to 10 patients per hour. This is unreasonable and not in alignment with our values. Looming changes in the commercial insurance sector point to a future which is unsustainable, not just for Thrive, but for many small, independent clinics nationwide and so, like others, we will discontinue billing in October. Though we will not bill your plan, you can still use your plan for lab work, imaging, prescriptions, devices and submit a superbill for reimbursement.

So um... Anyone else with a Gynecologist / OBGYN get emails like this today or within the past week? I don't go to either of these doctors anymore but I'm still on their mailing lists and ... OBGYN are's suddenly not taking insurance or medicare anymore?
