The incredible tolerance to cold some animals have always makes me feel like a flawed/failed animal. How can I be so hopelessly unable to survive under the huge range of conditions that a raccoon can manage? I know the usual answers to that, but the feeling these pictures give me still persists. 😉

Yep, one of my all-time favorite pictures, and has been my desktop background since I first saw it. Which keeps me motivated to keep my files and folders organized so they don't hide the picture. 😉

Nice ear tufts. :-) Is there any hypothesized function for ear tufts, or is it just "one of those things" that arise by happenstance, maybe as a result of other adaptive features.

One of our cats has excellent ear tufts, and it always makes me wonder.
