A little bit of improving the chance creation too imo. But some of it is about getting used to actually playing football that includes creating and scoring chances that aren’t just walking the ball in too. It will come. At minimum it was much better to watch

That’s a good point. Notice the lack of tippy-tapping BS at the back. Fulham had a couple of chances but we looked much more like a side that at minimum didn’t think they were there just to take part #saintsfc

Jukić has a massive task ahead of him. He needs to start by putting some steel into this team. And then some attacking flair. Almost impossible imo. But good luck to the guy #saintsfc

The formation wasn’t even necessarily the issue. It was the way he absolutely insisted they play and the continual high-risk football in the defensive 3rd

You can stretch play and support, or get it wide and play from there. But if you want to have every player be able to be pin sharp on every pass and have the ability to outplay top class players in every part of the field, then that takes a truly world class team.

Well possession football is fine, but playing it from the GK all the way to the top of the pitch, then no. Because you need every single player to be absolutely class at not only their ‘job’ in normal positional terms, but also be incredibly calm and skilful in possession. And that takes ££’s

It isn’t as simple as that. You don’t have to play long ball just because you choose to not play the really really intricate and difficult football that RM wanted the team to play. The reality is that he would never have the players to play that style in the PL, no matter how good we recruited

It’s a failure to realise you can’t play the exact and perfect system of play you want to. The need to be more pragmatic in a league in which almost every team will shut down your lovely passing unless you have the absolute elite players to play it.

I agree, I cannot see us staying up from here. I would like to see us take points from some of the games when we should have won though. Failure to adapt to the differing talent of the PL is RM’s failure imo

I do think incorrect decisions have been continually made in terms of playing squad and team selection and that falls on the manager too. Keeping misplaced faith in certain players has been a disaster #saintsfc

I can’t see us surviving the drop this season, hopefully ok wrong. But I would really like to see us competing. Recruitment hasn’t been amazing but results haven’t been in line with the talent imo #saintsfc

I like the guy and some of the football we’ve played *at times* has been excellent. But this season you could see where we were coming undone from day 1 and not changing things wasn’t good enough. #saintsfc

RM failed to adapt tactics to the reality of the PL really has been his downfall. The style of play went from dominating last year to disastrous this year and hasn’t changed anything in a mad quest for purity #saintsfc

I don’t think Saints have near the money to play his way in the PL. The quality you need to play this high risk/reward is just too much.

I think unless we change manager ASAP and manager to get some absolutely amazing talent in, we’re down. Can’t see us changing manager, so we’re down. Love to be proven wrong

Hmm close. This team has occasionally flashes of excellence, whereas I never saw that from MP’s team. Jones and Wotte pretty appalling.
