Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that Greece and Malta have become the main obstacles to an EU proposal to replace the price cap on Russian oil with a ban on services necessary for transporting fuel. According to the agency’s interlocutors, the two southern European

#Dejavu The #USSR manipulated the Cold War Peace Movement to block deployment of US IRBMs. Now, #Russia is recycling the same playbook through Germany’s peace groups ahead of #Munich, that cast Western defensive actions as provocative and present Moscow as the reasonable actor.

Arguments to begin in landmark social media addiction trial set in Los Angeles The world’s biggest social media companies face several landmark trials this year that seek to hold them responsible for harms to children who use their platforms.

β€œBorrowing heavily from the behavioral and neurobiological techniques used by slot machines and exploited by the cigarette industry, Defendants deliberately embedded in their products an array of design features aimed at maximizing youth engagement to drive advertising revenue,” the lawsuit says.

The Long Ukrainian Winter How You Can Help

Russia’s full-scale invasion began 4 years ago. It began in winter, and so this winter is the 5th. And, for civilians, the worst. Russia launches missiles and drones at energy infrastructure to force Ukrainians to endure the freezing cold. Here's how you can help

After 4 decades, I rewatched 'Red Dawn' last night. It was cringey in many ways. But as the basis for a better 'Red, White, and Blue Dawn' script in the hands of a good director, it could be a powerful statement.

Yes, there's a big gap in continuous fighting between the Manchurian Incident & the 1932 January 28 Incident in Shanghai, and Marco Polo Bridge. From what I recall, there also was no grand Japanese gov't plan to take over all of China before 1937. Policy ebbed & flowed with Cabinet changes.

I understand security concerns. Buying solar from them does not need to involve a partnership. It's simply placing orders with solar panel manufacturers and Ukrainians do the installation. Solar panels are not complicated, like a 5G network or an F-35. There's no dependency.

Hope what happened to Pierre Poilievre in Canada with Trump's endorsement, happens to OrbΓ‘n. The difference, though, is how Hungary's system is rigged.

True β€” a temporary expedient until the war's end when there may be excess labour that can be employed installing rooftop solar.

06.02.2026 17:42 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

How would just buying solar panels from China make you dependent on them? Unlike fossil fuels, you don't need to have continuous imports that can be cut.

As for building your own, you can't create an industry overnight. Ukraine has an immediate energy crisis. They can't wait that long.

A plant of any kind is a vulnerability; being beholden to fossil fuel imports is worse. Instead of a farm, better to have a distributed system where primary delivery is local generation delivered locally. Taking out one part does not take down the whole. China's cheap solar should be explored.

Latest public library borrow. Been watching Paine's YouTube talks lately, came across this book. Curious about her Japanese Empire analysis compared to Akira Iriye, who is one source for Paine. Initial quibble from TOC: The Second Sino-Japanese War (1931-1941).

Enjoy the read, Laurence! Fascinating story. Many have labelled Carlson a communist, but that's a McCarthy Red Scare legacy. He was a complex figure, naive in ways. Nevertheless, good ideas are good ideas, regardless of where they come from.

Taxing the rich will generate significant revenue, but that’s not its only purpose. By reducing inequality we can balance the scales of society.

Together, we can ensure that the wealth of this country is not hoarded by the few but redistributed to improve life for the 99%.

Over the last 30 years, corporate profits have doubled while corporate taxes have been slashed – all with the promise that benefits would eventually flow to working people.

Today, people are still waiting as wealth piles up at the top and the cost of living only soars. We need real solutions.

It’s time to end unchecked corporate welfare.

The current Liberal government is handing billions of dollars to profitable corporate giants in subsidies and tax breaks, with very few strings attached.

Our plan ensures every public dollar serves the public interest – rather than corporate profits.
