This should be an obvious choice but so many writers get anxious about allowing the characters to grow, or execs don't let it happen. They end up going back to how things were because they know that's what got the show good ratings in the first place (*cough* fallout *cough*)

One thing I really love about this season is how everyone has evolved in interesting ways, but the show still feels the same. Fanny is now sculpting vulvas and is not annoying anymore. Sneed treats Bell like a colleague and actually respects Dodger. Everyone treats each other differently now.
