I really like the phrase "Kavanaugh stop." It's not a Terry stop, because a Terry stop is short and based on reasonable suspicion of a crime. A Kavanaugh stop, by contrast, is when masked goons kidnap a person for speaking Spanish.

Priorities.

Any spending deal must protect healthcare, reject blank checks for authoritarianism, and actually serve the people. Democrats are at the table and ready to end the shutdown and meet the demands of their constituents. It’s now up to the Republicans: Fund healthcare or keep the government shut down?

Sens. Schumer & Gillibrand (NY), Schatz (HI), Durbin (IL), Peters (MI), and Hassan & Shaheen (NH) did the right thing by refusing to back a GOP budget that would decimate healthcare.
