A turn against political violence, or different demographics? The people who turned out for NoKings probably never supported political violence. The surprise, if there is one, is that protests weren’t met with violence by other groups who support its use.

Sell it to Republicans. It encourages people to have kids. They can’t ”blame the victim” for poor health if they’re a kid. It just doesn’t make economic sense to ignore the health of children. A kid whose health needs aren’t met early on may not be able to work as an adult.

Medicare should be extended to all children 18 and younger, and honestly this should be a no- brainer which appeals to people across the political spectrum. Children are our future! They don’t work and they can need a lot of medical care early in life.

If you claim Irish ancestry, remember - your people fled this island desperate, starving, and undocumented. You can't honor that history and support the far right. You can't be Irish and Maga either. You forgotten who your people were. We were the refugees once.

I worked in industry after graduating with a Physics Ph.D, and ended up with 40+ patents. A great career, with many fascinating problems to solve, and no grant proposals to write. I did not use Green’s functions, but the training in recognizing and stating assumptions was solid.

Fall in New York. Goldenrod, Poke berries and a field of yellowing kidney beans. One glorious sunny day after another. We’re in the midst of a New York drought, which means that its only rained a few times in the last month. I expect it’ll be a great year for finger lakes wine.

I have discovered elderberry shrub (elderberry syrup mixed with equal amounts of vinegar) and life is good. A teaspoon or two in a glass of water is tasty, refreshing, and perhaps mildly good for my arteries and immune system.

Last year I was able to get a half-pint of elderberry syrup from the elderberries I planted 4 years ago, and I was pretty happy about that. Enough to have over ice cream occasionally. This year I made just under 2 quarts, and the progression is a bit ominous.

Gov Hochul issued an Executive order allowing pharmacisists to write a prescription for a Covid Vaccine yesterday morning, I got the shot at my local Walgreens yesterday afternoon. They had the shots on hand assuming the State would figure things out.

It’s astonishing to think that before the clean air act this was every major city, almosr every day, except that the smoke was full of lead from gasoline. One of those things that we fixed so thoroughly that noone who wasn’t alive then believes.

Admittedly, a bunch of those non-Covid deaths were probably undiagnosed Covid deaths, but halving death rates in a study of 11 million people is not a statistically insignificant result.

It is true that more people are living with chronic diseases now. My husband has familial high blood pressure, and has been taking medication to control it and cycling 100 miles a week for the last 40 years instead of dying suddenly at fifty.

When Romney talked about half of Americans being unproductive he was talking about senior citizens and children. Some of us see babies and granny and some of us see moochers.
