Wonderful to know, basics are same for all mediums. So, my suggestion is to start with basics with Ballpoint pen. Below warm exercises help to build muscle memory required for every medium. Then slowly progressing to cross-hatching and contour lines. Hope this helps :)

Watercolor paintings of a diverse set of moths found at the Schulenberg Prairie in July 14, 2021. Some are colorful- green, yellow or multiple colors like the lichen moth (red, black and yellow). Some are gray or brown with patterns around the top like a winter sweater. There are also 3 other insects- a mantidfly, a buffalo treehopper, and a green and black striped leafhopper.

WIP sheet for a kea-griff, a griffon based on a kea and a lynx. It has mostly beige feathers with some areas of greener feathers, large fluffy back paws, and a bobtail.

Today's entry is a WIP of a small project that I started a few months ago but shelved it indefinitely... Would definitely love to return to it!

This is the kea-griff, a mischievous creature that is the mix of a kea bird and a lynx!

River sage (Salvia Misella) is an aromatic herb with leaves and flowers which can be eaten raw, cooked, or dried to enhance the flavor of baked goods, fruit, meat, and vegetables. Its bright blue and fragrant flowers attract pollinators.

Speculative hybrid bird with a shape similar to Cedar Waxwing with a crest, black mask, waxy tips to the secondaries and a dark tail with yellow tip. However, it has a Western Tanager's large horn-colored beak, a red/orange/yellow head, yellow belly and rump, and black wings with yellow wingbars. The bird is perched on a laurel branch with shiny black berries, which provides food naturally for both parent species.

For #ArtAdventCalendar day 12, part of a really fun commission! I was asked to imagine what a hybrid between Cedar Waxwing and tanagers might look like. This particular one is a cross with Western Tanager! Notice also the thick tanager bill, perfect for eating those laurel berries. 🪶🎨🐡 #birdart
