Also relates to the way ai can 'write poetry', 'make films' etc. There are communities of artists, film makers etc who do those things and make them possible. Art is about the process, not the product.

What would be more interesting, I think, then where rich people send their kids is where teachers and other experts in child development send theirs. (Absolutely normal schools, in my experience, not quirky experimental ones.)

Just looked it up. Amazing. 'A school where kids crush academics in 2 hours'. Wtf? And it's 40k now!!

That's a Steiner school. They introduce tech from age 12. (The same as state schools here in the UK. Thought I'm sure they do slightly less when they do introduce it, it's not tech free.)

People keep saying this, but where's the evidence? I think there was one sketchy article in the Atlantic saying it, and its become an urban myth. Aren't they madly inflicting AI on their kids?

Okay. But all the serious researchers, NSPCC, WHO etc say the networking/chatting to mates I hugely beneficial. I have teenagers and I'm absolutely relaxed about their phone use. They're clever, sociable, informed, funny... and my life is infinitely richer for social media and access to info.

Also it can't produce meaning. It can make a Shakespeare style sonnet, I'm sure, but who cares? The force of a literary work is that someone *felt* or *thought* that way. Without the feeling its just a machine for shuffling words.

Well. Depends where your birth is registered. I was born in Germany but registered in a British forces register office. My birth could just have easily have been registered in the local German one, and I'd have German citizenship. I was foreign-born, either way.

Lots of Forces kids were born overseas. Are they (we) properly British or not? I'm confused!

I'm always interested to hear what dickheads like him make of the likes of me, ancestors here since before the Normans but I have rather different values to him.

Alarmist post. The study you quote is very balanced and calm, stresses the benefits of social media and suggests better education for parents, young people and educators.
