Graphic artist specialising in game and space art. Currently trying to learn animation so I can make silly CGI videos.
Introduce yourself with four spaceships.
24.11.2025 21:09 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Got to say that recent events have made me feel a bit "I'm tired Boss" tired. Everything is going completely to shit by design to benefit a small group of rich assholes and people are blaming it all on immigrants and trans people.
23.11.2025 15:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Physically tired or "Imma had enough of this" tired?
23.11.2025 05:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is a worthy project! Can you fiddle with mesh scale or camera settings to get the correct look?
22.11.2025 16:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The people I know who are doing AI animations are those who decided that learning modelling, rigging, texturing, weight painting and animation are all bridges too far. To be fair on them, it's a long and arduous road to travel learning all that.
21.11.2025 14:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just imagine you get up, look out the window and you see this. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in bringing this to us groundhogs.
21.11.2025 14:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Same here. People in 1977 had their 'Star Destroyer' moment when the ship flew over their heads when they watched Star Wars for the first time and their minds were blown. I had that moment when the Discovery flew past in 1969. I had no clue about the star gate scene but I was on board!
21.11.2025 13:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You could have so much fun with this setup, filming 'missing' scenes from the film!
21.11.2025 13:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Especially since the one upside of the lifting of a test ban treaty would be replacing the Orion going to the moon with an Orion taking a complete colony out to Titan in one flight! π
21.11.2025 13:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Damn straight. Proper freezing.
21.11.2025 12:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Or do the scene with the people separately and comp an animation in afterwards like they did in the film.
For my 'Space: 1959' film I had to learn a lot of compositing tricks. Break it all down like they do in Hollywood into easily handled sections.

21.11.2025 00:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Though it was a plastic model, not a digital one.
20.11.2025 23:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You would probably have to build the docking port as a separate mesh entirely or it will be too unwieldy polygon wise. I imagine they made a separate model of the docking port for similar reasons on the original movie.
20.11.2025 23:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Do what they did with the original and use real people. It doesn't have to be detailed. Option 2 is use stock humans from turbo squid, etc and animated with Mixamo. Keep the shot short and sweet. At that scale you can get away with murder.
20.11.2025 23:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You can't beat a proper book store. I really miss Andromeda Books in Birmingham, UK.
20.11.2025 10:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0MS gave the company to the marketeers rather than engineers, that was where it all started to go wrong. See also: "Boeing".
20.11.2025 10:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If Blender, or Wikipedia, or any other free service has made your life better in any way, please do consider giving something back, even if it's only a small, one time donation.
20.11.2025 10:33 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Me too. I'm on a bronze membership.
20.11.2025 10:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Congratulations! It's a wonderful adventure raising little monsters.
19.11.2025 12:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yep, can confirm!
19.11.2025 12:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can hear Vangelis.
17.11.2025 12:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tried this with a Zombie I made. I took a screengrab of the critter and brought that into Meshy. From the screengrab, it produced a good mesh with defined hands. It did a good job of the back anatomy. I followed through with the rigging and success!! This is from an image, not a model!
16.11.2025 15:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Tried the rigging and animation of an Imperial officer from Star Wars. The rigging was very much like Mixamo, but defined left and right. The finished result wasn't particularly great, but if you started with a more T or A pose character, I imagine you would have a lot more success.
16.11.2025 14:33 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Oh boy. I tried a picture of an imperial officer from Star Wars and got this. The AI knew that it was a human and put his hands behind his back. It's made an attempt to create the hands, which aren't too awful for an approximation.
16.11.2025 14:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh dear! I thought this was a very unfair test, but it didn't do too bad. I'm impressed it could make some sense of all those pipes!
16.11.2025 14:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0UV map!
16.11.2025 12:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I used a similar one, MeshyAI, and got some decent results.
While interesting, for animation production, it will only serve as a guide for character creation. I'll need to produce a proper optimised mesh that is just the head for addition of hair, retopology, etc, etc...
But it's interesting.
I tried to sign up and they won't send me a confirmation. I tried to sign into their discord and they want me to give them my date of birth and fill out four or five "Are you human" captcha screens. I decided that life was too short.
