I have plenty of reservations with the use of other scriptures integrated in liturgy but if my reservation doesn’t lead to compassion and curiosity I tend to err on the side of caution!

We can never capture the entirety of worship and no attempts of conserving some sense of tradition will make the invisible finally respect your church choices

The other point I always make is that if you are an armchair commenter on anglican identity and keep making appeals to historicity or a classical understanding of the faith based on some sense that those are more valid or respectable you will always lose.

There is a parish using worship music a la early 2000’s ccm that if not for therapy and distance would cause me to feel serious, painful anxiety. Obviously none of it’s in TEC repertoire at all BUT at that same service I saw plenty of vibrancy plenty of genuine worship.

There are plenty of decision parishes within thirty minutes of my home make that I would never do and /yet/ would I pen a screed to them about how they worship poorly? Never. Even if I’m shocked in the moment, I have to be incredibly curious. Figuring out why these folks are living God this way.

Grading assignments make me feel crunchily anti-grades. Like most of the poor grades I’m recording are students rushing /because/ I am giving them small work to assess their understanding while others are also giving them small work the assess their understanding!

I’m slowly realizing in teaching middle school you can’t give students anything that is two sheets of paper. Somehow an extra sheet ruins the balance of the universe.

One of the annoying things about receiving clergy emails while working as a teacher is you can go to almost nothing. Some of us are helping students create biographies of Harper Lee!

The eye exam is the perfect game design. That big E is a great tutorial that teaches you the basic mechanic. But it doesn't baby you and quickly gets hard as they introduce the small and blurry enemies.
