I think this is going to be one of my favorites of 2025 from just one episode. Cast is on point with fast character development; script is insightful, hilarious, and intriguing; and the filmmaking feels top notch. What a comeback for Lee Jong suk!!

Went to see K-film "Hi.5" tonight with my wife and our K-drama buddies!! It was a blast and we had so much fun pointing out actors from various shows (3 of whom are currently in "Our Unwritten Seoul" even though this was filmed 4 years ago!!). Also kind of sad to see our fallen star Yoo In-ah...

I just hate the concept of anyone punching that handsome face!! 😝

I feel like the logistics of pulling off a fatal T-Bone car crash at high speed would be pretty difficult to pull off. This is not one of my favorite tropes...

Watched the first half of Nine Puzzles, still intrigued (mysteries are not my favorite but it's got a strong cast & creative storytelling/filming). I'm loving Second Shot at Love. Continuing a sweet C-drama called Always Home. Loved first 2 eps of Our Unwritten Seoul. Ready for Goodboy to start!!

Two actresses that I always feel like I'm rooting for but seem perpetually stuck in supporting roles are Shin Do-hyun (who was so great in Doom at Your Service) and Jang Hee-ryung (who was recently in The Witch but sticks in my mind the most from Sh**ting Stars).

This post got me thinking about my favorite K-drama writers...

I'm visiting one of my oldest/dearest childhood friends in Austin & he's prepared a double-feature film fest for my visit consisting of movies our parents wouldn't let us watch when we were kids!!

We're starting out w Conan/Highlander (I never did see Conan but did watch Highlander many times!)

His voice is what I can't get over. So one of a kind. His acting was amazing--so subtle and yet powerful

My problem with the ending was that it seemed framed as a comfort drama during Covid, like we can get thru hard times w the help of love & friends. So my wife & I were both backing on the idea they were fooling us to set us up for a happy ending (in hopes we could get thru Covid happy too). Let down

Same. My Mister...once I finished it I couldn't believe what I watched. The same writer did My Liberation Notes & Another Miss Oh. Such a genius!

I feel like this show is criminally under appreciated!! It had some flaws (like the early focus on the band) but it's really incredibly well made!!
