Tim Davie resigns as BBC director general after accusations of ‘serious and systemic’ bias in coverage Davie tells staff departure was ‘my own decision’ but it comes with the BBC preparing to apologise for the way it edited a Trump speech

I am fascinated to know which side of “systemic bias” the Gaza and trans rights angle is

A train driver managed to get his train onto a slow line and stopped at a station to facilitate speedy law enforcement.

A train guard put his life on the line to protect the passengers.

Remember that next time they talk about rail workers' wages or rubbish like driverless trains with no guards.

If Labour is continuing to lose votes, just got 11% in a by-election in a seat they've held for 100 years and in a few recent polls is equal to or just behind the Greens maybe we should stop suggesting they're the only thing that can defeat Reform.

"It's not for me to say to people 'don't vote Labour because you're going to split the vote'. It's Labour's job to offer a better solution".

Perfectly put.

People are sick of being told there are only two options: bad or worse.

Seeing the rightwing press publish several articles a day that all have the headline "Zack Polanski is VERY scary though!" is giving me 2017-2019 vibes. And that's GOOD. Coz things are a liiiittle bit different now out there. It'll take more than Newsnight photoshopping Russian hats to fuck this.

This gets to the core issue. Many mistakenly think "taxing the rich" means people on 6-figure salaries paying more tax, when it's actually about adequately taxing non-salary based wealth people accrue from assets.

That's what wealth tax actually means and it's why the rich s**t themselves about it.

Polanski is talking nonsense about wealth taxes.

Polanski is talking nonsense about wealth taxes.

The Spectator (owned by GBNews owner Paul Marshall - estimated wealth of £800 million) doesn’t like taxing wealth fairly.

I wonder how they got to this editorial decision?

Let’s tax wealth fairly, fund front line services & make hope normal again.

Including a rant from Richard Tice entirely designed to distract from Reform and Russia.

Everyone should know about Nathan Gill, the bribes from Russia and the link to Reform.

And in a world of pandering focus grouped bullshit politics, it’s really kind of refreshing.

Good and bad news for Zack Polanski: the Green conference was a joy, but now hopes are stratospheric | Adam Ramsay Members loved hearing from a leader who boldly reflects their views and isn’t afraid of the rightwing press. How far can he take the party?, says journalist and Green party member Adam Ramsay

🚀 @greenparty.org.uk has grown from 58,000 members in December to 86,000 today.

Six years ago, consistently polling around 2%. Now, above 10%.

Green councillors leapt from fewer than 200 to nearly 900.

Green MPs from one to four.

This is the beginning.

BBC Laura Kuenssberg Show Accused of Anti-Green Bias After Cancelling Zack Polanski Interview The new Green Party leader was the only major party leader not to have been granted a conference interview on the flagship BBC show

The Greens requested an interview on the Laura Kuenssberg Show with Zack Polanski when he was elected leader, but were denied, with a promise to interview him during Green conference instead.

This was then scrapped citing the Manchester synagogue attack. Polanski is both Jewish and from Manchester

We flounced out of the EU on the say-so of politicians who lied to us. And what a total shitshow that’s turned out to be. The polar opposite of what they promised. Now the call to flounce out of the ECHR. By the same people. Telling the same lies. Has the country been kicked in the head by a horse?

A party that continues to address its bleeding of support to the left with calls to 'attack' them while maintaining its failed strategy of appealing to the right is not a party that is engaging with reality. It is one that has been taken over by ideological fanatics and should be treated as such.

The brief summary of the “coppers storming Nicola Sturgeon’s house” stuff is that the police were told the SNP had spent donations they were given for a second referendum on day-to-day party maintenance. I’m not even sure that is a crime. Now, look at what these clowns have done.

Starmer’s ID plan has caused upset, but in the EU the debate has long been settled ID cards have become an essential part of life for many across the bloc, with digital versions already launched in many member states

Yeah, I live where these things are mandatory and it IS bullshit and I'm a cishet sensitive white boy who doesn't get hassled by the cops or ID checked. When I lived in Belgium they'd do "random" card check on the trains and guess who got carded? Wasn't me.

Jimmy Kimmel isn't returning to the airwaves because of "thoughtful conversations" with Disney executives.

He's back because consumers sent Disney a clear message: selling out our fundamental rights is not an acceptable cost of doing business.

One thing that bothers me tonight in particular is how so much of this is happening because of grand and sweeping capitulation by the media, by companies, by Congress, by people in power. Even when they don’t have to — they simply comply, acquiesce, and appease.

Chris Mason: Reform conference shows party's growing ambition like never before The conference feels like that of a big party - but retains the insurgency vibe that the party is seeking to channel.

You can find out a lot about why so many prominent people and the organisations they work for consider vaguely left politics wildly extreme and completely unacceptable, by looking at the stuff they are just fine with.
