CERT had us do a game where person A would spell the term for some object (“pink fan” or “keychain,” e.g.) on a screened table and person B would have to decode it and grab the thing, then become the speller for person C. The adrenaline was good for driving home those last few letters!

(It’s a pity that “Masochism Tango” isn’t particularly danceable. It kinda-sorta fits for ballroom tango but not at all for Argentine, at least not at my non-professional level.)

Totally missed last night’s storm because I was inside a distillery, drinking cava and talking and dancing with friends. On balance, far superior to last Thursday’s storm experience, zero flaming power lines.

The store was ofc out of ice last night, so I bought frozen pearl onions (ew) and used them as cold packs to save dinner leftovers in the cooler. Worked great! Which is good bc I still don’t have power and really wanted that reheated Burmese chicken.

Half the neighborhood is dark, so fingers crossed. That storm came through like an ex with a grudge!

Cookie update: the residual heat did for the last batch! Also the fire department dispatched a guy who came out to assess the downed tree-wire situation; he left after a few minutes. Shit’s still slightly on fire, but presumably it isn’t an immediate threat.

So much for getting the last batch of cookies baked.
