thing about streeting, is more than anybody else i've ever seen in politics, you just know his time in govt is being used purely to do favours and secure him a job for when he loses his seat in the next election. because even if labour somehow manage to turn it round, he's definitely going.

This is easy: they don’t do good things progressives will like because they don’t *want* to do them, and they largely detest those people. They pander to racists and reactionaries because they share those politics, and these people are the ones who will vote for crackdowns, cuts, war and cruelty.

i've tried other multiplexers but the problem isn't the multiplexer. plus i've found modern multiplexers are just too heavy for the task and don't really bring anything to make up for it. tmux is so light.

the good news is rethinking everything gives me a chance to get stuck into something productive

another problem is using tmux to handle nvim windows instead of nvim means that i miss out on some functionality, and each new split or window means opening a whole other instance of nvim, which can really add up in ram and cpu usage.

the problem with tmux is this pop up terminal. it's so handy, in theory. i use vim keys on the cli though so if i hit escape to enter normal mode i close the terminal. because the key to close the terminal can't be changed.

sooo i've spent a few months gradually tweaking my tmux config so it works exactly like i want it to.. i even made nvim use tmux panes and tabs in place of its own window system.

now however, i am thinking of ditching tmux and just using nvim. or at least having a very minimal tmux workflow.

i don't know a great deal about american politics but you can't tell me tim walz is the only tim walz shaped politician the dems have. i have this problem a lot with softer lefties and centrists. ok you have different red lines to me that's fine. but does it have to be these red lines?

i don't think it's that much of a purity test. if you want to call yourself even centre left you have to be against transphobia, you have to be against racism and xenophobia. there are plenty people on the centre left who given the chance i think could manage this. but until somebody does. just, no.

i don't think being against transphobia is an unreasonable red line for potential progressive (and i use the term broadly) candidates. you wouldn't tolerate immigrant bashi... oh.. you would? oh..
